CV Advice
Your CV will become an invaluable tool throughout your working life; whether you're applying for new jobs, building on experience, gaining qualifications or looking for an internal promotion. Your CV is the first chance you have to really sell yourself and if you work in sales this shouldn't be too hard!
SalesJobs.co.uk has teamed together with some of the best CV writing companies to give you excellent CV and cover letter advice.
CV Overview
The term CV (Curriculum Vitae) can be traced back to its Latin meaning 'direction of life'. It provides an overview of the candidate and is usually the first opportunity to impress the employer. Your CV should be accompanied by a cover letter, which provides an additional overview of why you are interested in the vacancy and the skills you possess to make you suitable for the role.
When sales jobs are being advertised a candidate specification is created, identifying the skills and experience they require for the vacancy. During the selection process the CVs will be reviewed to see how closely they match the person specification, in an attempt to find the most suitable sales candidate possible.
Essential Sales Skills
This list of sales skills is by no means exhaustive and of course they vary from role to role. However, on the whole the skills below will be what an employer is looking for within your CV.
- Persuasive
- Convincing
- Confident communicator
- Product knowledge
- Relate well to people
- Belief in yourself and the product
- Ability to sell (of course!)
